Who I am, how I can help
Holly Knowles is a registered social worker, therapist and coach who draws on 20+ years of work in social services and public safety. She is a holistic practitioner who tailors therapy according to client needs, using evidence-based practices to help reduce stress, promote recovery, and build resilience. Holly offers confidential services for individuals working on issues related to stress, self-esteem, and relationships. She can support clients through depression and anxiety, and is trauma-informed in practice. Holly has a special appreciation for individuals who work in or have to deal with public safety issues.
Holly holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Studies) from Queen’s University. She draws from modalities such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, trauma-informed practice, resiliency models, coaching, leadership, and conflict management.
Holly’s journey throughout her career has informed her practice. Her own experiences of vicarious (secondary) trauma, compassion fatigue, stress, and burnout called on her to find strategies and solutions to stay well. Her yoga, mindfulness practices and love of nature have been instrumental to her wellbeing. She cares deeply for the environment and promotes connection with nature as an integral part of her health. Her healing journey began out of necessity but is now her inspiration to help others on their own paths to greater insight, joy and calm. Holly cherishes her spouse, children, family, friends, and goofy chocolate lab, Nala, all of whom help bring balance and delight to her life.
